Friday, August 19:Reverend Hylton, Americana, 7-9pm
Reverend Justin Hylton has toured the nation with his songs of relatable tales of life experiences. Heartbreak, addiction, traveling and having a good time are the substance of his melodic musical, lyrical and vocal writings. From the stage to the crowd, a real performance is heard. Real words, sung by a real man, with real meaning make for an authentic time shared by both Justin and the crowd. As a guitarist, Justin’s musical influences started at a young age. “I have been interested in music for most of my life. When I was getting into a lot of trouble as a teenager, my mom would send me to my Grandfathers. That was where I learned to play the guitar. My grandfather was learning the banjo and we would sit on the porch and pick for days. I immediately started writing songs.” A Georgia native, Justin has lived and traveled the United States. Currently living in Atlanta, Georgia, being an artist has paved the way for him to express himself, “It helps me stay sane in this insane world.” Justin finds new influences every day by listening to music and getting deep into the lyrics and feelings behind different songs. Justin is always looking for something new and feels the creative undertone of the music he hears. Anyone who can express themselves in their own way is the cornerstone of his influence. Sunday 21: Bourbon Express - Country, Americana, 7:00-9:00pm
from Brooklyn, NY Bourbon Express formed in 2011 when wife and husband, singer-songwriter Katie Curley and guitarist Brendan Curley, both originally from Washington State, met in Brooklyn, NY, and discovered that they share an affinity for vintage country music. Vocalist Sarah Kinsey and bassist/vocalist Andrew Dykeman later joined the band, and the group released its debut album, One Big Losin’ Streak, in 2015. The self release received critical acclaim and international airplay, ranking in the top 10 on Roots Music Report's True Country Album Chart six weeks in a row with "Last Dance" topping at #2. The Daily Country calls it "a gem; toe tapping and twangy with a sound that is decidedly old school.” New York Music Daily describes Bourbon Express as “a first-class honky-tonk band,” and has named "Which Wine Goes with Your Heartache" one of "The Top 100 Songs of 2015." "A great retro old-school country style band with appealing original tunes" - George Graham, WVIA Homegrown Music Preview Bourbon Express video here |
