Friday, December 2nd: Ryan Hutchens, 7-9pm
Americana Ryan Hutchens is a 27 year old singer songwriter based out of Columbia, South Carolina. He has been on the road full time since the fall of 2013, performing more than 400 solo acoustic sets in bars, restaurants, and coffeehouses across the US. Ryan draws on his South Carolina roots and the musical influences of his family, and feels at home writing and performing Americana, Folk, Bluegrass, and Traditional style songs. Check out more here. 11am-1pm You do not want to miss this. A made-from-scratch menu with fresh, vibrant flavors and some incredibly indulgent options (see above picture of french toast with orange pastry cream, bruleed fruit and piece of porkbelly bacon- oh and yes, they made the bread from scratch, too). Celebrating: Wrap Your Head Around It: edition 2 w/ Musical Guests The Bluegrass Battleship, 7:00-9:00pm Wrap Your Head Around It is a grassroots project facilitated by Marguerite Jay Gignoux. In its 2nd edition, WYHAI is a project that links text with textile through community action; one hundred art scarves are made with & for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. This year Johnny's was proud to be one of the locations where some of the decorating and dyeing took place. We are excited to have this event celebrating the efforts and results of all those who've contributed. We will be having music from the oh-so-talented group of seven, Bluegrass Battleship, many of the amazing scarves that have come from edition 2 will be on display and we will be having a wine tasting. Join us for this super special evening of community & art. |
Bluegrass Battleship

7:00-9:00pm Celebrating Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan in his 75th year and singing songs from all of his changes and phases, including pre-fame folk, famous folk, protest, introspection, pure poetry, existential angst, cryptic parable, country, marriage/family/divorce, born again, and continued evolution. The Bob Dylan Regulars is made up of Peter White (guitar, autoharp, vocals), Francis Conlin (bass), George Michaels (guitar, vocals), and Marie Vanderbeck (guitar, vocals). The encourage singing along during this celebratory performance! |

Brunch time performance 11am-1pm Ozymandias showcases their passion for music through their original works & a distinctive sound strongly influenced by folk pop artists. The finished pieces are infused with passion and upbeat sounds. All of the members add a significant slice of style to each song performed, the appreciation and dedication for music and this group shows clearly through every members' talent and infects the crowd with their own lively love for the music. What's Your Story? 7:00-8:30pm
Theme TBA The mission of "What's Your Story?" is to connect members of the community through narrative. Come prepared with a story in mind that fits the theme or just come to listen or share on the spot. The evening begins with a story from our host, Simone Fine, and is punctuated with mini stories that are read aloud from prompts participants fill out ahead of time. This gives a wonderful opportunity for those who may not want to speak but would still like to share anonymously. Last time was so special we can't wait to hear more. 6:30pm-9pm lead by Chessa Rich Johnny's is on the move and we're bringing holiday cheer with us. Join us at 6:30pm inside Johnny's to hear some music and to get warmed up and then get ready... we're heading out at 7pm to carol around Carrboro. This year's caroling will be lead by the talented, Chessa Rich. |
Thursday, December 29th: Vinyl Revival, 7:00-9:00pm
Acoustic Cover Band Vinyl Revival is local neighborhood group. Their set list includes an eclectic mix of Acoustic covers. Classic Rock, Country, Blues, Rockabilly ….. The Band members bring a diverse mix of musical backgrounds to send listeners on an Acoustic Road Trip. Lead singer/Guitar player Brian invokes memories of Johnny Cash with his renditions of hits such as Folsom Prison Blues and Walk the Line. The percussion section, Jeff and Scott, combine Bluegrass and Reggae influences to provide a bottom that will keep listeners bouncing in their seats. Bass/Guitar player Greg uses his Jazz/Blues background to the complete the unique blend of styles. The band has only been together a short time, entertaining the neighborhood of Southern Village on Sunday afternoons. They are anxious now to bring the show to other venues. |
