Saturday, July 2: Amy Kucharik - blues-infused ukulele originals, 7:00-9:00pm
from Somerville (Boston), MA
About Amy Kucharik (/kuh-CHAR-ick/) -- Drawing from blues and Dixieland traditions and with a street-smart stagecraft honed in the subways of Boston, Amy’s "modern vintage" grooves have earned her comparisons to Lake Street Dive, Maria Muldaur and the Asylum Street Spankers. The 2015 Kerrville New Folk winning songwriter explores the full range of her ukulele, both exploiting and defying its reputation as a novelty instrument. Amy performs as a one-woman-band with foot percussion and mouth trumpet, while her Vaudevillian charm and infectious, danceable swing transport her audience to a place both timeless and familiar, but nevertheless innovative. Her catchy, edgy, sometimes haunting lyrics recount tales of reluctant love, heartbreak, revenge, and grit. Texas Outside said Amy “…stole the show with the light, upbeat sounds of her instrument and voice against the dark humor of her lyrics.” Amy has been touring for the last couple of years, sharing stages with the likes of Rod Picott, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, and fellow 2015 New Folk winner, Wes Collins.

Sunday, July 17: Darryl Rahn- Folk Americana, 11:00am - 1:00pm

Darryl Rahn has a lot to say. At just 21, he has released 2 LP’s, 2 EP’s, and has toured extensively down the eastern US. Born and raised in the heart of upstate New York (Utica, to be exact), he fell in love with the craft of songwriting after buying The Avett Brothers’ Second Gleam EP on a whim. Ever since, he has been churning out insightful folk/americana tunes and doing all he can to get them heard. His distinct tenor voice, narrative-rich lyrics, and virtuosic guitar lines have earned him spots on the same bills as national acts such as Guster, Wild Child, and Firefall’s Larry Burnett. He is currently on tour to support his latest record, Waiting For The Clouds.

Austin Miller is a singer/songwriter from Florida, USA. Guitar, voice, no frills. Road tested and road proven. Americana from someone who's actually seen all of America; spontaneous and heartfelt tunes that lead you into an Iron & Wine / Neil Young - flavored reverie.

Friday, July 22: My Cousin Skinny - Acoustic Duo, 7:00-9:00pm
from Raleigh
Mixing soaring harmonies with inventive jams, the acoustic duo My Cousin Skinny – otherwise known as Mike and Jeff - brings energy, spontaneity and many styles to live performances.

The duo has been performing and writing music together for twenty years. Their original songs are often intricate, but accessible, and feature a strong interplay between the guitars. At times, the duo incorporates bass loops and percussion to nearly emulate a “full band” sound. Lyrically, the songs focus on themes like regret, loss and love – but most often always with a humorous or quirky undertone. They also cover a wide range of artists, from the Avett Brothers to Zeppelin.

They have played in full-piece bands, traveling up and down the east coast, but for the past few years have stayed close to home and to their roots.

Friday, July 29th: The Porchmen- Bluegrass; 7:00-9:00pm
Hailing out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina - The Porchmen. Producing a sound which embraces the vibe and attitude of traditional Old-Timey, Folk, and Bluegrass music along with modern melodies and catchy riffs, their song writing style has been described as "reflective," "upbeat," and "real."

The Porchmen formed when Andrew Ellis and Cornelis Verkerk began writing and playing music on the porch in the summer of 2012. Andrew thunders in on the upright bass and lead vocals, and Cornelis picks and hammers on the banjo whilst occasionally providing backup hollerin’. Guitarist, Jonny “Big Jon” Pineda, joined The Porchmen shortly after its founding, adding not just guitar but also beautiful lead vocals and dulcet harmonies to contrast his rugged image. The newest member, the talented Jessica Tufte out of Buffalo, New York, has added a new dynamic to the band as a classically trained violinist gone fiddle-player.
The Porchmen started by playing at the events of friends and family, where they discovered a love for playing for people. Before long, they began booking shows in venues in the greater Chapel Hill/triangle area bringing in big crowds and playing good music for fans.
