Johnny's Pre- Shakori Hills Festival Kick Off
Joe MacPhail opens this incredible evening at 6pm with his stellar musicianship and songwriting skills. Quick! Get here before he heads off on another tour!
Zach Larmer is a guitarist, composer, and educator living in Miami. A jazz musician with roots in funk, soul, and bluegrass, Zach is the recipient of multiple DownBeat awards. He has appeared on numerous albums and television programs, written for the Steve Miller Band, and shared the stage with artists such as Albert and Jimmy Heath, Mark O’Connor, and Brian Lynch. Currently, Zach’s efforts are centered around his quartet, the Zach Larmer Electric Band, and work with the Miami-based Live! Modern School of Music.
A rising star of the jazz guitar world, Zach Larmer's name is one you should certainly remember. Leading his electric band comprised of Tal Cohen (Australia) on Keyboards, Dion Kerr (New York) on bass, and Rodolfo Zuniga (Costa Rica) on drums, the group is receiving international recognition for their unique blend of progressive funk rhythms with deep jazz harmonies.
The music is groundbreaking in its ability to bridge the gap that is often caused by the label of “jazz”. The band can make an audience move and groove while also seamlessly satisfying the keen ear of the educated listener through an amalgamation of hard-hitting jazz, funk, and soul.

Here's some of what the press has to say about this phenomenally talented musician:
All About Jazz: “The compositions are excellent and Larmer's playing has that riveting quality that makes people pay close attention...Inner Circle is a studio recording, it's true, but one that encompasses the unbridled vigor, gift of chemistry and profound impulsiveness of a live recording.” Miami Arts Review: “The album doesn’t fall victim to the emotional stiffness one grows accustomed to in other examples of self-proclaimed 'math-music.' The performances are interactive and organic, and the tunes always maintain a foot-tapping groove throughout.” Miami Arts and Entertainment District: “Larmer injects an encyclopedia-like knowledge into his sonic creations — a calculative technique that smacks you square in the face and wakes you up out of whatever trance you had fallen into.” Jazz Views: “Zach Larmer is a bright new star on the jazz scene with an absolutely smoking debut album.” |
